Cancellation Policy: We will gladly accept cancellations up to 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. To cancel an appointment on Monday, you must contact our office by 4 pm on the Friday prior. HOW SAFE ARE SR TREATMENTS FOR MY SKIN?

 

 

 

 
Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the SR technology that make it unparalleled for skin safety, without compromising effectiveness for treatment. There are no long term health hazards from the light or electric energies used in the SR treatment. Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery and aesthetics without adversity.

 

DOES THE SR TREATMENT HURT?

The sensation is often described as a ‘hot pinch’ or ‘snapping’ feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second and you may feel warmth or tingling for a short period of time. Most people tolerate the treatment without topical anesthetic. The hand piece is chilled to 10C for comfort on the skin.


WHAT HAPPENS AFTER EACH SR TREATMENT?

Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. A slight darkening of the pigmented lesions will occur, but this is temporary. The improvement in pigmented and vascular irregularities can often be appreciated 3-4 weeks after treatment.

HOW DOES SKIN TIGHTENING WITH REFIRME WORK?

The total number of required treatment sessions depends on your skin’s condition. Usually 5 treatment sessions spaced about 3-4 weeks apart are required to reach the desired result. Maintenance treatments can be scheduled at 3-6 month intervals.

Laser Hair Reduction

 

HOW DOES LASER HAIR REDUCTION WORK?

 

Hair follicles go through  normal growth cycles. The normal growth cycle is comprised of 3 stages: 

Hair follicles go through these cycles in a non-syncronized manner. For example, over 65% of facial hair in in Anagen at any given time, while only 20% of the hair on the legs in in Anagen. This means that one cannot expect long term hair reduction in a single or even a double treatment session.


Permanent hair reduction is achieved when a follicle is thermally destroyed and is not able to grow a terminal hair again (photothermolysis).


Elos uses two distinct types of energies-Light energy and Radio-frequency to effectively denature the hair follicle resulting in the cessation of the normal hair growth cycle.

Why are 2 energies safer than 1?

 

 

Using traditional systems in order to achieve hair reduction there must be sufficient light absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft to produce heat in the surrounding follicle. In instances where there is insufficient absorption of light (grey, blonde or red hair) photothermolysis cannot be achieved.
 

By combining both light and radio frequency current even follicles growing poor melanin target hair such as grey, blonde and red can be treated. While the light energy heats up the hair shaft initially,  the RF current is like a 'heat seeking missle' that is pushed towards the follicle. The synergy between the optical energy and RF current results in unparalleled safety and efficacy in hair reduction.

Permanent hair reduction is successful for both men and women, and almost all body areas can be treated. Only elōs is proven to remove lighter colored hair, on all skin tones. To achieve successful outcome, more treatments may be needed compared to darker hair colors.



WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS? 

 

 

 
Hair growth is reduced after each treatment. The number of treatments required will be based on your hair color and type, body area, and skin tone. Over several treatments at appropriate treatment intervals, many of the follicles that cycle through hair growth will be affected and will be disabled leaving them unable to cycle again. Because there are so many millions of follicles that can potentially grow on the body, it is not realistic to expect that every single follicle in the treatment area will be disabled. The follicles that are dormant or vellus hairs are not affected during these treatments.

It is important to remember that the body can convert these inactive or dormant follicles to grow later in life as a result of many factors: hormonal imbalance, pregnancy, menopause, disease or medications, obesity or idopathic causes. Realistic reduction expectations can be in the range of 70-90%.

 

DOES HAIR REDUCTION TREATMENT HURT? 

 

 

 
Cooling of the skin surface as well as constant measurement of the skin’s resistance ensures safety and comfort during treatment.Most patients describe the feeling as a 'snapping' sensation-like a rubber band snapping on the skin. To reduce this feeling patients are encouraged to use a topical anesthetic such as Lidomax (available at the office) 1 hr prior to treatment.


This is a no downtime procedure. Most patients return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?

 

 

 
Hyaluronic acid is a natural, complex sugar found in all living cells and an important component of the skin, along with collagen and elastin. Hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.


WHERE CAN JUVEDERM BE USED?

 

 

 
Juvederm™ can be used on frown lines, smile lines, vertical lip lines, crow’s feet and lines around the mouth. It can also be used to add volume to the lips, chin and jaw.


WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM A JUVEDERM TREATMENT?

 

 

 
Before the treatment, a topical numbing cream or an injectable freezing may be used to numb the treatment area. Juvederm™ will them be injected under the surface of the skin to enhance facial features or fill wrinkles and folds. For the first 24 hours after treatment you should avoid the following:


  • Strenous exercise
  • Consumption of alcohol
    • Extended exposure to sun, heat or freezing temperatures.
